Which One to Trust on Marcos' Narratives: Social Media vs. Traditional Media
Is the Bataan Nuclear Power Plant a Great Achievement of the Late Dictator was Just Wasted By His Successor - Former President Corazon Aquino?
And again another misinformation about the tale of the Marcoses that is spread via social media and is claimed as a shocking and legit part of Philippine history is about the late dictator was able to build the Bataan Nuclear Power Plant with his goal to improve the lives of the Filipinos and the electricity in the country but because of Corazon Aquino, the project failed to be fully utilized after it was completed.

However, traditional media such as Rappler and Philippine Star once again debunk this claim. Their reports say that the administration of Cory decided not to open the $2.3 billion project due to safety- and corruption-related concerns and due to issues related to the Chernobyl nuclear disaster two years after the completion of the power plant in 1984.

AFP Fact Check once again sides with the traditional media confirming that the power plant was never launched due to corruption issues and safety concerns. The Official Gazette also says likewise, that though it was the largest and most expensive project in Philippine history, it was unable to generate a kilowatt of electricity under the Marcos regime. The official journal of the Philippine government affirms in one of its articles that there were four active volcanoes located within 100 miles from the site of the Bataan Nuclear Power Plant thus raising security issues and that even by 1986, more than a decade later its completion, the power plant was still not operational.
